ACS serves as a focal point for photography in Memphis and surrounding regions and a showcase for creative works by beginner, emerging, and professional photographers. Centered in the Midtown Arts District of Memphis, Tennessee, ACS hosts art showings, networking events, artist’s receptions and of course supports a continually evolving collection of art including Darius’ own works. Consultation offerings include one-stop-shop for photographers’ lighting, presentation, design, equipment rental, location scouting, production assistance and setup. ACS is dedicated to making sure the images created in-house not only record the expected but illuminate the extraordinary.

Darius B Williams
From an early age to present day, Darius B Williams continues to cradle a camera in hand as the constant, consummate shutterbug. While in college another student placed him in front of the camera as a subject for a black and white photography class. This event was the tipping point that led Darius to pursue more in depth study of photography and channel energies to produce remarkable and timeless works influenced by some of the modern photography masters – Avedon, Gorman and Ritts to name a few. Starting with film cameras, 35mm and medium format, provided him the opportunity to explore composition and patience in the photographic process. This initial education continues to shape his eye for illustrious images. Darius eagerly adapted to the digital format at its advent and continues to employ new technology in his work.

Darius’ most recent works favor portraiture with elements of fashion, artistic nudes and emotional studies. Using lighting, elements in the surrounding environment and created pieces, he shapes his images with boldness and passion. “I like to use what’s there and find the essence of the person as they relate to the light, the temperature, the materials, or even whether they are exposed or not. Each of these molds how the person will present on the final image. The simple complexities of people are what interest me.”

Darius B Williams is a resident of Memphis, Tennessee and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Presently, he is working on a series of large-scale image collaborations with artists in various mediums, blogging regularly, updating his website and publishing a book project.

SJulian
Beginning with his love of fashion magazines and cinema S.Julian (or "S.") is a fashion and music photographer whose open mind and edgy-clean aesthetic inform his perspective on imagery. 

Originally from Memphis, TN, S.Julian is a graduate from The University of Memphis' Fine Art program. Never able to find the right models, he typically shoots friends and other artists to bring his ideas to life. "S." quickly had his first solo show only months out of college at the then, Exhibit A fine art gallery (selling most the work off the walls). After many public displays at private parties and galleries, he gained gallery representation from Sue Layman Designs.

Shortly after having his work exhibited at Sue Layman Designs, it quickly catches the eye of musician/singer Justin Timberlake who sees one of his works at a local dessert restaurant, just next door. Timberlake quickly buys the whole exhibition giving S.Julian a new sense of validation and purpose.

"With my fashion photographs I want people to choose their own adventure. With my music images, I just want them to feel it," he says. "The photographs should speak for themselves as a series and also stand strong all by themselves."
